THE WESTERN POWERS HYPOCRISY OVER THE FALL OF AFGHANISTAN TO THE TALIBAN.

The fall to the Taliban of the whole country of Afghanistan in just a few days is clearly a major international event. Along with the retreat and surrender of the three hundred thousand strong Afghan in just a few days. Some thing that I must confess I found surprising.

However this blog is about the hypocrisy of the western powers regarding their concern about the Taliban coming to power in the country in the last few weeks and their so called concern about human rights in Afghanistan. A concern that I will show that they do not have about human rights in their allies in the middle east like Saudi Arabia.

In 1978 the socialist Peoples Democratic Party came to power, they introduced land reforms, educational reforms and other reforms like womens rights. However as soon as the PDA came to power the western powers started funding groups like the Taliban to overthrow the PDA government. When the Russian troops withdrew from the country in 1989 the PDA government was overthrown in 1992 and eventually the Taliban came to power.

However after the events of September 2011 the western powers invaded the country and the Taliban government was overthrown. However the Taliban retreated to the mountains and when the Americans withdraw from the country a few weeks ago they quickly took control of the country in just a few days.

The western powers claim to be now concerned about human rights in Afghanistan, but they funded groups like the Taliban in the early 1980s to overthrow the PDA government.

However the western powers have backed similar jihadist groups with the same ideology as the Taliban in Syria and Libya. Also they have refused to condemn human rights abuse in Saudi Arabia or its war of genocide in Yemen. Nor do they care about Israels ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.

So as you can clearly see the western powers are very selective and hypocritical about which countries in the middle east and far east they care about ‘human rights’. The western imperialist powers are only interested in stealing the resources of Afghanistan and other countries in the middle east.

We shall just have to wait and see whether or not the Taliban manage to consolidate their power in the country or whether they will face military resistance. However in conclusion I wonder if the real reason for the American withdrawal from Afghanistan is that they are planning a major war somewhere else? We shall just have to wait and see.

Best wishes to all for the future.

POEM – EXISTENCE

The aged couple sit round the table, their best days long gone.
They count their weekly pensions and worriedly budget for the
week ahead.

Inwardly both hark back to better days that they enjoyed in their younger
years, when in full time work they managed to make a reasonable existence.
When they could even afford a two weeks holiday in Benidorm.
But like so many other people they did not put money aside for a rainy day.

But alas, that rainy day is now well and truly upon this couple
sitting around the table in their cold winter living room.
As they try to budget to pay the dreaded electricity bill,
that has just arrived through the letter box.

The feel bitter about a world that does not seem to want to know or care
about them any more.
Their children who are totally involved in their own world no longer want to know about their now distanced parents.

This then is the existence of a couple who cannot afford the comforts of
life, nor the things that make life worth living.
Now that their working days are over the system no longer needs them anymore.
