This blog is about silence rather than meditation. When you meditate you try to still your mind and to be clear of your thoughts. However in period of silence you are still aware of your surroundings.
If you have read my previous blog on meditation you will know that I advocate meditating twice a day in the morning and evening to calm the mind. However in periods of silence, practice is in addition to meditation.
By taking time for silence I mean laying on a bed or sitting on a chair alone for about 20 or so minutes. You will be as I have just said be fully aware of your surroundings.
During this silence practice I would urge people to reflect on their day. Also you could say a few prayers or mantras such as heal my body heal the world. This will I feel have a positive affect on the individual and the world. You can also use this silence practice to analyse your day.
In conclusion taking time for silence and reflection will I am certain have a positive affect on the individual person taking part in the silence.
